Fertility Issues

Over the course of 20 years, we have treated hundreds of cases dealing with infertility or reproductive problems. Most people aren’t aware that male infertility is as common as female infertility. Causes of infertility include certain diseases and aging. Below is a list of fertility issues that we regularly treat at Conception Wellness. With our variety of treatment plans, we have a record of success.

  • Premature ovarian failure
  • Advanced maternal age ( 37+)
  • Endometriosis
  • Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOS)
  • Elevated FSH, Low AMH
  • Fibroids
  • Blocked Fallopian tubes
  • Unexplained infertility
  • Miscarriage/recurrent miscarriage
  • Failed IVF
  • Male factor infertility
  • Autoimmune infertility
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Poor egg quality
  • Luteal phase defect/low progesterone

Five main causes of infertility:

At Conception Wellness, we find five major categories that can damage a woman’s health and ultimately lead to fertility problems. The five areas are often related to one another. During the initial consultation, we will take a comprehensive look at your health and determine if these five factors are impacting your health and fertility. If so, our protocol includes diet, supplements, herbs, and acupuncture.

Hormonal Imbalance

Hormonal disturbances can disrupt fertility. The common hormones considered in infertility are estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). At Conception Wellness, we evaluate the full hormonal picture – including thyroid and adrenal hormones, as well as hormones produced by the pituitary gland, such as prolactin.

In addition to identifying which hormonal imbalances are present, we help determine why. Many factors can disrupt our delicate hormonal balance. Common on this list are age, stress, and diet, but there are many other factors that can play a role. Once we know what is disrupting your hormones, we can put a plan together to correct it. Acupuncture, herbs, and nutritional supplements are wonderful at balancing hormones. A local reproductive endocrinologist once told us that we “turned back the hands of time” on a woman’s ovarian health after she followed the Conception Wellness Program to balance her hormones. She is now the mother of a three-year-old boy.

Cellular inflammation and oxidative stress are the root cause of premature aging and disease — and chronic low-level inflammation can impact fertility as well. Inflammation and oxidative stress can . . .

  • Damage a developing egg or sperm, impairing its ability to fertilize.
  • Create an inflamed and hostile environment in the uterus, which can prevent embryo implantation.
  • Disrupt the proper functioning of the endocrine system, causing hormonal imbalances.
  • Negatively affect the immune system and, in some cases, cause the immune system to attack sperm, ovaries, or a developing embryo.

The Conception Wellness Program is designed to quench the inflamatory process and deliver powerful nutrients and antioxidants to your system.

Undiagnosed infections can be a cause factor in female and male infertility. Infections of the reproductive tract can damage the production of both the sperm and egg and create a hostile and inflamed environment for embryo implantation. Infections can contribute to recurrent miscarriage and pregnancy complications. Infections may also damage fallopian tubes, causing scarring, adhesion, and blockage. We help patients determine whether they are suffering from infections and provide guidance on the best treatment options for them. We have developed a custom herbal formula to safely and effectively clear common infections in both men and women.

Diet and nutritional status can impact health and fertility. Some foods boost our health and fertility, while others can cause imbalances in our bodies that can have a negative impact on fertility. Some foods and dietary habits may create hormonal imbalances and inflammation as described above. At Conception Wellness, we will guide you in choosing a fertility-promoting diet and identify foods in your diet that may be unhealthy for you. We will also guide you in choosing appropriate nutritional supplements, such as vitamins and minerals, based on your individual needs.

When animals face stress in the wild, reproduction is affected. The same is true for humans. And stress can come from both internal and external sources. Certain conditions, such as blood-sugar dysregulation, can cause stress in the body and on the reproductive system without the person ever “feeling” stressed. Certain foods and/or nutritional deficiencies can create “oxidative stress” that can harm the health of a developing egg or embryo.

Again, people may be unaware this stress is occurring. The Conception Wellness Consultation and Wellness Programs are designed to identify and treat these types of insidious stress which may be adversely affecting your fertility. We also consider the impact of external stress and guide our patients in ways to reduce stress in their lives.

We know that people’s lives are busy, and we understand how much the struggle to get pregnant can cause stress, anxiety, and even depression. If needed, we can provide natural alternatives to medications for depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Acupuncture is a powerful treatment to combat the effects of stress in the body and is an important part of any fertility wellness plan.
